Hello all, Season 2017 starts now and we are already well under way in preparations.
Last Friday night we held out Annual Presentation Night with a wonderful turn out. A big thanks to the Caulfield RSL for allowing us to use their rooms and putting on a wonderful 3 course meal for the occasion. Congratulations to all the winners of the awards on the night. It’s well deserved.
The AGM was recently held on Wednesday night and with a few positional changes, may I present to you your committee for 2017
President: Rohan Storey
Vice President: Mick Convery
Secretary: Tom Ryan
Treasurer: Shane Convery
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our previous president in Mick Convery who has stood down from the role. His passion for the club and dedication is very much appreciated and we are thankful that he will still continue to support the current committee in a Vice Presidents role.
I would also like to thank Laine McCooke who has had a tough job of being treasurer for the past few seasons. Laine has done a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes in making sure that the club is financial. Laine will still be involved in the club in a limited capacity and we wish him all the best.
To the committee members that are no longer on the committee this season, I again thank you for your support for last season and hope to still see you at the club during next season.
This season sees us tackle Division 4 which should be seen as an opportunity for the club to reset and re-establish itself on field and off field to move back up the divisions. Leigh Horsburgh has been reappointed as senior coach and we will soon be looking at advertising for senior assistant and reserve coaching roles for this season.
Pre-Season training dates will be released shortly so keep an eye on the website, Facebook and your emails.
There will also be a Bunnings Sausage Day to be held in early 2017 so when the date is announced, It would be great if you put aside 2-3 hours that day to help turn over a snag or 2. The club can make some really coin from these types of events.
From a personal point of view, I would like to thank those who turned up to the AGM on Wednesday and bestowed me with the honour of being president of the Elsternwick Football Club. I look forward to not only the challenge, but more so in building the relationship with our current members, past players, sponsors, family and friends of the club.
